Switzerland Unplugged: Chirag Khandelwal's 6-Day Hidden Gems Itinerary

Switzerland is a heaven of beautiful landscapes and quaint villages. If you want to find out some of its magic places, the travel influencer Chirag Khandelwal has shared a 6-day, 5-night itinerary that will take you to six breathtaking villages: Gimmelwald, Brienz, Appenzell, Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald, and Oeschinen Lake.

Day 1: Zurich to Appenzell

Start from Zurich; take a train to Appenzell, which will take about 1.5 hours. As you arrive, just enjoy the drive in the colorful streets and enjoy the traditional Swiss atmosphere. Spend your first night in this delightful village.

Day 2: Appenzell to Brienz

Visit Ebenalp Mountain after breakfast for a spectacular view. Then take a train to Brienz by afternoon. This is one famous village with some of the most beautiful lake landscapes and woodcarvings. Spend the whole day near Lake Brienz, and stay overnight in Brienz.

Day 3: Brienz to Lauterbrunnen

On your third day, explore the stunning alpine environment or visit the Giessbach Waterfalls. From there, head toward Lauterbrunnen, a valley with 72 waterfalls. Visit the Staubbach Waterfalls before spending the night at Lauterbrunnen.

Day 4: Lauterbrunnen, Gimmelwald & Grindelwald

Take the cable car to Gimmelwald. That's a peaceful, car-free village with absolutely marvelous alpine scenery. After visiting there, take a local bus to Grindelwald and spend an hour on the First Cliff Walk for fantastic scenic views. Back to Lauterbrunnen for the night.

Day 5: Lauterbrunnen to Oeschinen Lake

Take a day trip to visit Oeschinen Lake near Kandersteg (1.5 hours round trip). Hike or relax around this lake, and then return back to Lauterbrunnen.

Day 6: Return to Zurich

Spend your last day back in Zurich. If time allows, drive around the city before leaving. This itinerary guarantees an unforgettable Swiss adventure full of beauty and charm!
