Naggar Castle, located in the Naggar village, Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, India. Built by Raja Sidh Singh of Kullu around 1460 AD. But later, it was taken over by the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation HPTDC), to run as a heritage hotel, in 1978. It is built in the typical Kathkuni style of Himachal architecture. If you want to visit this historical architecture, then you have to pay INR 50 as an entry fee. After entering, you can enjoy the unique view of Kullu's scenic mountains and villages. Also, the house in Naggar village is mostly constructed from wood. 

Things to Do in Naggar Castle: 

If you want to feel the royal vibe of India and experience the atmosphere of British Raj in one place, Naggar Castle is the place to be. While visiting Kullu and Manali, you can plan your stay at the Naggar Castle. Spend some free time at the castle and appreciate its structural beauty. 

Also, you can explore all the local visiting places in Naggar town. Take a visit to the nearby Gauri Shankar temple, Krishna Temple, the Gallery of Nicholas Roerich, and Urusvati Himalayan Folk. You can also go on a trek to the Jana waterfall, which is almost 12 km from the castle. Apart from visiting all the temples and monasteries, don't forget to shop at the local markets of Naggar.

How to Reach Naggar Castle:

By Air: Kullu-Manali Airport is about 40 KM from Naggar, so, people can land and then drive to the hotel. 

By Train: People who are interested in traveling by train can take one to the Joginder Nagar Railway Station which is about 145 KM from Naggar and then take a cab to the town. 

By Road: you can take a bus from Delhi to Manali and get off at Patlikuhal, which is located around 17 km from Manali. After that, you can book a taxi or switch to another bus to Naggar. 

Things to Know Before Visiting: 

  • If you want to stay at Naggar Castle, make sure to book the rooms in advance.
  • Although the castle represents ancient architecture, it offers modern services.
  • Some of the facilities you will receive at Naggar Castle are an in-house restaurant, wifi, 24-hour power backup, drive-in, etc.
  • If you stay in the castle, the entry fee won't apply.
