  • "Safety standards for women in India are horrible"

Travel influencer Tanya Khanijow has shared a controversial post on social media, requesting women from abroad not to travel to India. This post came after the Kolkata doctor's rape and murder. She faced backlash for tarnishing India's image online.

"Please Avoid Coming to India..."

Taking to X, she wrote, "Safety standards for women in India are horrible. My sincere request to all my women friends abroad. Please don't travel here unless our dear leadership seriously creates a safer environment for women. Please avoid coming to India at all costs!”

"You Should Be Ashamed of Yourself..."

The post has garnered lots of reaction and the comment section is filled with mixed comments. Netizens seem unhappy with her comments while a few are in her favour. Criticising her comment, a user wrote, "You should be ashamed of yourself calling an Indian. The incident happened in one of the most peaceful states in India where a woman is a chief minister and she is the torch-bearer of democracy and you start abusing the whole of India for being unsafe for women! People should boycott your channel if such is your mentality for the Indian community as a whole." She was also quick to reply to his comment, she wrote, "Because it is, and unless we acknowledge it, I don't think things can change. I've dealt with assaults myself in almost all parts of India. It is our society at large that is failing women. And unless we call for strict actions, I don't think we can feel safe."

Tanya: I Stand By My Statement...

Another user commented, Okay, brown girl. But foreign women are already having a great time in India, and their experience is nothing like what you told them it would be. And imagine believing India is not safe when it is probably one of the safest countries in Asia."

But she continued to stand by her statement and said, "I stand by my statement and will say it again! To all women abroad, please don't travel to India. If your house is dirty, do you call guests over before cleaning it? I don't! For all those saying most of the world is unsafe.”

She has faced the fury of the netizens and they have pulled her off for tarnishing India's image and called it, "unfair and misleading".
