Travel influencer Maahie, who recently visited such a location, is in Maharashtra. Shani Shingnapur is a unique village located 35 kilometers from Ahmednagar. The village is famous for the famous temple of Shani, the Hindu god associated with the planet Saturn.

A village Without Doors

You won't find door to houses, schools or shops in Shani Shingnapur. The idea of ​​no door comes from the belief of the villagers in the divine protection of Lord Shani. Lord Shani is believed to protect them from any theft or crime. Over the centuries, this trust has kept them safe as no crime has been recorded in the village for more than 300 years. The only "security" some villagers use is a simple sliding door with a rope or even just a curtain.

The Legend Behind the Faith

The story goes that centuries ago a man struck a black stone with a pointed stick, and to his surprise, on the night the stone began to bleed, Lord Shani appeared in a worshipper's dream and revealed that the unique black stone was its symbol. Since then, the statue of Lord Shani Dev has been installed in the village, outside, without any shelter or roof, symbolizing his presence and protection.

When Maahie, a travel influencer, visited the village, he wanted to know why people felt so safe. He spoke to villagers who said, “We don't have doors because we believe Lord Shani Dev will protect us from thieves. Houses with doors create obstacles in their lives.”

A Unique Tradition

Interestingly, despite the strong belief in Lord Shani's protection, there is a 400-year-old tradition that prevents women from entering the sanctum of the temple. While many have raised questions about this practice, the village holds fast to their customs.
