- The perfect definition of a "real-life influencer"
When your post or pictures evoke curiosity in the audience, understand that you are somewhere influencing or turning heads.
Recent pictures of PM Narender Modi are proof of it. The Prime Minister posted a series of images from his two-day trip to Lakshadweep, pitching the destination as a must-visit for the adventure-minded. Result? Lakshadweep shot up to become the top-searched keyword on Google for the next two days! Now, that is the perfect definition of a “real-life influencer.”
Here are some pointers for content creators to keep it simple and smart:
Be real: To be an influencer, you do not have to fake it. You must keep it as close to reality as possible. Show things that you will do in reality and that the audience can relate to. Your content should be believable and readily acceptable to your fans. Keep it local/regional yet classy. Stick to the roots. Do you get it?
Explore the unexplored: Try to think out of the box. I mean, who thought to go to Lakshadweep and take a stroll in a classic crisp kurta pajama and Pashmina shawl? Indian PM did! He bowled over the audience when anyone least expected it. Moral of the story: Try to do what no other creator is doing. Even if it means to explore destinations and places in the most uncommon way possible. Uniquely present your content. It's all about “novelty” on social media. If you want your audience to come back to you then: Innovate and Curate Unique Experiences.
Be a trendsetter: Yes, there are those who “blindly follow” Instagram trends and then there are those who CREATE trends! Be in the latter lot. Trust me, you will land up in a better space. Example: Think Indian and create content that connects with the local audience. Try your regional language. It always strikes the right chord. Keep your content original, sticky, and entertaining. Content is the King, after all.
Connect with the audience: As a creator, you need to hold the pulse of the reader/viewer. When you first saw pictures of PM Modi snorkelling or strolling on the beach: What was your first reaction? It's that “Wow” factor and the urge to know more about that person, that experience, that influencer, and that is what YOU as creators need to work on. Also, it's always good to analyze your content from a third person's perspective. Think about what you would like to watch on your profile as your audience. Relatable, engaging, realistic content is what you need to aim at creating. Be consistent. Be at it!
Strategize it smartly: When the world is holidaying on fancy foreign luxury beaches, one person decided to play it local and stuck to the “Made in Indconnectionnect. Similarly, it's about strategizing your content in a way that it has “clickable value.” Tip: Stick to your core. Create what no one's creating. Think out of the box. Generate curiosity through your content. Promote vocal for local. The results will follow!
