Snehil Dixit Mehra on 'India Got Latent' Row: "I Am Not Siding With Ranveer Allahbadia..."

Ranveer Allahbadia has been facing backlash for his remarks on Samay Raina's 'India's Got Latent'. His ‘sex with parent' comment, seen as vulgar and offensive, has sparked outrage on social media, with an official complaint being filed with the Mumbai Commissioner and Maharashtra Women's Commission. Further, Mumbai Cyber Cell has booked 'India's Got Latent', demanding the removal of all of its episodes. Cops have also visited the show set and Ranveer's home.

Snehil Dixit On Ranveer Allahbadia's Controversy:

Now, Snehil Dixit Mehra aka BC Aunty has shared her reaction to the entire controversy. She said that she's ‘deeply affected' by the way events unfolded. "As a content creator, I'm fearful. The next time I'm on a public podium cracking a joke, I'll be extremely scared. We belong to the working class and for cops to land up at our homes is a bit of a taboo. Going ahead, I feel that young voices who're trying to say something important will be shunned," she mentioned to News18 in an exclusive conversation.

She added, "But it will also help us draw a line between palatable and non-palatable content. There are pros and cons to this situation. Having said that, I'm not siding with Ranveer. There are certain topics that are sacred. I saw a video where I saw that his remark wasn't even his original joke but taken from a show in the USA. Ranveer picked it up verbatim and said it in a quirky way, thinking he'd evoke a lot of laughs. But it's a very basic thing to understand that Western culture is very different."

She continued, "It may have consequences on Ranveer's career. A famous personality put up on a post on social media stating that he has refused to be a part of the podcast, basis this incident. This will definitely impact Ranveer, particularly because he's a social media influencer too. Social media is where his profession is. It may also impact his financial and mental status. I can only imagine what he must be going through right now."

"This Is The Cancel Culture..."

"One wrong statement, appearance or joke can land you in big trouble and this should be our learning from this episode. I, in fact, posted a funny video on this episode and someone called me out for still following Ranveer. This is the cancel culture I'm talking about it and it's really scary," she stated.

She concluded, "Ranveer has the image of a spiritual, nice and clean guy, who meets the who's who of the world. He's living every Indian's aspiration. That's why, his responsibility is multifold. Samay Raina and The Rebel Kid are comics and their job is to make jobs. But the youth looks up to Ranveer. I'm shocked how his team even allowed him to be a part of a platform like India's Got Latent. It was a lack of foresight on their part."
