Samay Raina's Roast of Kusha Kapila to Uorfi Javed vs Sufi Motiwala: Biggest Controversies of 2024

As we inch closer to wrapping up 2024 and welcoming 2025, let's look at all the controversies that made headlines this year. From Uorfi Javed calling out Sufi Motiwala to Gaurav Taneja vs Dhruv Rathee, 2024 had its fair share of controversies.

Kusha Kapila: "It Was Shockingly Unkind"

Samay and Kusha joined several other comedians to roast each other on the new series, Pretty Good Roast Show S1. In one of the episodes, Samay took center stage and roasted Kusha. He made several comments about Kapila's personal life including marriage, divorce, and link-up rumors. 

Later on, Kusha opened up about the roast and said, "It was done in good faith and for a friend. Nobody has been paid (neither comics nor guests) for it so the argument that people are being paid big fat cheques to hear their insults is baseless. I had no idea what was in store for me. Maybe I should have asked for a script and known better but since friends were involved I didn't. Rookie mistake."

'Disgusting' DM From Influencer Sufi Motiwala:

Uorfi called out the fashion influencer publicly for 'disgusting'  comments, and he again DMed her, asking for a chance to clarify his stance. He took to his Instagram stories to reveal that his account got hacked and added that he had no such intentions towards her. He also tried to clarify that he won't ever pass such crass comments on anyone.

Mallika Dua Bashed Shivesh Bhatia:

Comedian Mallika Dua slammed Shivesh Bhatia for copying her content.  Bhatia shared a video on his YouTube channel where he was testing out viral air fryer recipes and he used Mallika's viral phrases, Skyaaauz me (excuse me), and very kyaaut (cute) to make his video more interesting.

This didn't go well with Mallika and she took to her Instagram stories and wrote, "If you're a creator and you use my catchphrases in your videos. I expect you not to use them first. Second, I expect to be (sic) credited in the video and the description and the credits. It's non-negotiable. You cannot be so comfortable claiming jokes and mannerisms that aren't yours. This isn't as generic as a recipe." In another story, she posted a screengrab of her conversation with Shivesh. He can be seen apologizing to her.

Gaurav Taneja & Dhruv Rathee's War of Words:

YouTuber Dhruv Rathee slammed Sadhguru and accused him of playing a dirty game. He said, "Can you stop your anti-India agenda, Mr. Jagadish Vasudev? Everyone knows that both India and Bharat are written in our constitution but just for politics, you are playing this dirty game of divide and rule."

Dhruv Rathee's comment on Sadhguru didn't go well with Gaurav Taneja. Sharing the screenshot of Dhruv Rathee's comment. He wrote, "Why can't different opinions exist on the internet? Why do some foreigners want to control all content on the internet." This didn't stop here and it turned into a personal battle.

Rajat Dalal's Arrest in Hit & Run Case:

Rajat Dalal's video of hitting a biker while overspeeding at over 140 kmph on a busy Faridabad road went viral on social media, sparking public outrage. This led Faridabad police to take suo moto cognizance and register a case against him. Later on, Dalal surrendered before the Sarai Khawaja Police Station in Faridabad in connection with a reckless driving incident.

Abhishek Malhan's Jibe at Elvish Yadav:

For the promotion of Bigg Boss OTT 3, Elvish Yadav made a hilarious video and said, "The second contestant should be Nischay Malhan, there should be someone from the Malhan family for the second position."

After this comment, Abhishek Malhan took a jibe at his arrest. He commented, “Are Elvish Bhai, Nischay ne government se award jeeta tha, or aapko government se kya mila tha.” along with handcuff emojis. Bigg Boss OTT season 2 winner also hit back at him, he commented, “Bro, I didn't know apka humor or tolerance aapko dekhne wali janta ki tarah hai, “kam”.
