Remember the thrill of childhood, glued to the TV, mesmerized by the Republic Day parade and marching bands? That excitement isn't just a memory—it's a connection to the very spirit of India. January 26th isn't just about adopting the Constitution; it's about celebrating freedom, democracy, and the unity that binds us all. We reached out to some Genz influencers on what this day means to them and their cherished childhood memories of Republic Day festivities. Here's what they shared!
Gen Z Influencers on what Republic Day means to them:
Kaiz Keshwani:
Republic Day acts as a refreshing wave of patriotism for India's Gen Z. The vibrant celebrations evoke a renewed spirit of patriotism, making us reflect on the sacrifices of the past and the responsibilities of the future. It's a day that resonates with the energy of youth, instilling a deep love for the country and a commitment to contribute to its progress.
Laxman Patel:
In the digital era, Indian Republic Day means a lot to me as an 18-year-old content creator. It's more than flashy parades; it's a chance to dig into the layers of my identity in our ever-changing world. Navigating being an Indian today is like blending tradition with the fast pace of now. Using my online space, I love to highlight our rich cultural mix and tackle issues that hit close to home. Republic Day is my canvas to talk about more than just patriotism; it's a time to connect, understand, and maybe make a positive change. From climate worries to inequality, I see it as a chance to be part of the ongoing journey of our diverse and lively India.
Himani Guher:
As a Gen Z, I will not forget to share patriotic content on social media. It can be celebrated by organizing virtual events that include historical documentaries or movies and engaging in discussions on democracy, diversity, and social progress. Outdoor activities, like participating in parades or joining local events, could also be part of their celebrations. Certainly! Gen Z in India might celebrate Republic Day by hosting online quizzes or challenges related to Indian history and the constitution, creating and sharing patriotic playlists, organizing virtual debates on civic issues, participating in social media campaigns promoting unity and diversity, and even using technology to connect with peers across the country for joint celebrations.
Harsh Rane:
Republic Day for Gen Z acts like a wake-up call, for they learn how privileged they are to be born and working in a democratic country like India, which has its own set of constitutional rights because some countries still have none.
Mansi Guher on Childhood Memories:
I have been a performer since childhood and loved being on stage! We used to perform at Noida authority at 7 AM, where we would get refreshments (that was the best part) after the dance performance. My father was very enthusiastic about the Republic Day parade, and we used to watch it together. The best part was when we used to wait for the jet parade, which was visible from our place. I miss the vibe now!
