Munawar Faruqui On Why He Chose To Do An Intimate Wedding: "I Am Really Scared Now..."

Stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui recently appeared on the podcast of Sana Khan and Mufti Anas. He got candid about his views on expensive weddings and while he chose to have an intimate marriage. He even shared how the dowry practice becomes a burden on the family and it should be stopped.

Anas shared how Munawar often helps his family and others financially in his village. He said, "I am just telling the fact, I remember that Munawar has helped everyone, he made envelopes with everyone's names and kept a certain amount and distributed to them." Munawar added, "If someone comes to you, don't let them go empty-handed. If Allah has sent him to you then help them. We don't take all this with us. Afsos reh jaate hai, isse accha hai ki kahin mauka mile toh haath ko dene wala rakho. Maybe today I am able to give that is because it is his fate that I am blessed."

"I Am Really Scared Now..."

Munawar further shed light on the dowery system, "Dahej mat dijiye, don't overspend on weddings. I come across where people say that they need money for their child's wedding. Even I got married but kept it intimate. I am really scared now, hum dono ko kisi ki nazar lag gayi toh? Mujhe darr lagta hai nazar se, utna shayad maut se bhi nahi lagta. So I choose to keep things away from everyone's eyes."

Munawar Faruqui recently opened up about his marriage to celebrity makeup artist Mehzabeen Coatwala during Sana Khan and Anas Saiyad's Ramadan vlogs. Expressing his happiness, he shared how marriage brought stability and a sense of completeness to his life. Munawar revealed he was hospitalized for intestinal issues just a week before his wedding but was determined to go ahead. They married in a private ceremony on May 26, 2024, in Mumbai. This is Mehzabeen's second marriage, and she has a ten-year-old daughter. Their blended family shares beautiful moments together, marking a joyful new chapter in Munawar's life.

Reflecting on married life with Mehzabeen, Munawar expressed a newfound sense of peace and happiness. "This time, the atmosphere at home is different. I am very happy. Last Ramadan, I remember being exhausted, praying that I just want to settle down. I was tired of feeling lost. I wanted stability, and destiny gave me exactly what I needed. I am so blessed. I never imagined I would find a partner like this. My family is complete—she is like the perfect puzzle piece that was missing."
