Meesho, an Indian e-commerce company, has filed a complaint against six social media influencers. The company claims that these influencers made false claims about it, which could damage its reputation.

About Meesho

Meesho is unique in the e-commerce sector since it enables shops to sell things directly through their social media profiles. Meesho connects resellers with suppliers and manufacturers instead of selling directly to customers. The platform includes clothing, accessories, furniture, cosmetics, and kitchen utensils.

The Complaint

Meesho mentioned six people in his complaint: Shainal Trivedi (@shainaltrivedi), Areesh Irani (@areeshtalks), Akhil Nana (@askhil_nana), Supriya Bhuchasia (@supriyabuchasia), Sagar Patil (@financewithpatil), and Muttalik Hussain (@Mutallik_07). According to Meesho, these influencers posted on Instagram that the platform sells old and used clothes and accessories.

Meesho strongly denies these allegations, saying that they never sold second-hand items. The posts from the influencers who went live between August and September have attracted a lot of attention.

Impact on Meesho

Meesho expressed concern that these false statements may confuse current customers and harm the company's reputation. They noticed that ongoing Google searches for these issues had increased, suggesting that customers were confused.

The company claims that influencers' viewpoints might harm their business connections and revenues, so negatively impacting Meesho's position in the e-commerce industry.

Legal Action

Consequently, Meesho asked the police to take action under the Indian Legal Code of Conflict Act and the Trademark Act. A senior police officer said the investigation is currently underway.
