The First Episode is Out:
In the first episode of 'The Masoom Minawala Show', Nykaa CEO Falguni Nayar and Nykaa Fashion CEO Adwaita Nayar shared about their personal journeys. The discussion touched on a range of topics, including postpartum experiences, being a working parent, financial independence in women and the ever-present challenge of "mom guilt."
Discussion on 'Mom Guilt':
While discussing motherhood and being a working mother, all of them pointed out the topic of ‘mom guilt' which is something that they all feel "has been there forever and now, has become even bigger". To this, Falguni added "I used to travel extensively day and night and come home to Adwaita asking me to sign here and sign there. There's a lot of guilt with young kids, especially for quality time. I used to keep telling myself, 'How do I compete with a mother who is spending so much quality time with her kids?' It's a long-term thing and it doesn't get easy. You really need to be jiddhi about what you want to achieve at work for you to overcome that guilt and say no, this matters to me and I need to do it."
Adwaita added, "I saw my mom pursue everything that she is passionate about- how much she loved working, friendships, travel, treks despite having a busy career. Having all of that as a role model gives me the courage to be like her, wanting to live for myself. What starts off as children missing their parents, eventually becomes children feeling as they get older that I want to live for myself and thrive in this one life I have because I saw my parents do it."
Masson has also discussed 'mom gulit' and mentioned that this is for everyone not only exclusive to working parents.
