Instagram Gets a DM Upgrade! Edit Messages, Pin Chats, & More

Instagram has announced several new direct messaging (DM) features designed to enhance the audience's ability to connect with friends, thereby making their messaging experience more flexible and enjoyable. People connect daily on Instagram through posts and stories, but especially through private messaging, bringing these new messaging features to Instagram. Take a look at the new Instagram features.

Edit Your Messages: If you have sent a message with a typo or something that doesn't sound right, don't worry! You can now make edits to your message up to 15 minutes after sending it. To edit a message, press and hold on to the sent message and choose 'edit' from the dropdown menu.

Pin Chats to the Top of the Inbox: You will soon be able to pin up to three group chats or one-on-one chats to the top of your inbox for easy access. This feature is useful for chats with your closest friends and family, or for any chat you want to prioritize. To pin a chat, swipe left or tap and hold on the chat, then select 'pin'. You can unpin a chat at any time.

Toggle Read Receipts in DMs: You can now turn read receipts on or off for all of your chats or specific ones. Read receipts are useful to let others know that you have read their message. To turn it on or off for all chats, follow these steps:

• Go to account settings.
• Tap Messages and story replies.
• Tap Show read receipts.
• Toggle read receipts on or off for all of your chats.

Save Your Favourite Stickers and Upgrade Your Replies: You can now save your favourite stickers in DMs for easy access. Press and hold on the sticker you want to save, and you'll find them at the top next time you go to stickers. Additionally, stickers, GIFs, videos, photos, and voice messages are available when you reply to a message. Simply press and hold on to the message you want to reply to, select reply, and you'll see options.

Personalize Your Chats with More Themes: Set the mood for your chat with themes. Whether it's planning for a get-together or some fun banter with friends, there's a theme for that. Check out our newest themes including Love (soon to be animated), Lollipop, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and many more. To change the theme for a chat, tap the chat name up top, go into themes, and pick one of the themes available.
