Japan is often praised as one of the cleanest countries in the world. The streets are clean and so are public areas, making many believe that the country delivers on its promise of being one of the cleanest around. But a recent video that has been going viral has left people questioning if Japan is indeed the cleanest.
Influencer Simran Jain Tests Japan's Cleanliness with White Socks
This video was recorded by an Indian influencer named Simran Jain, who chose to test Japan's cleanliness in a pretty unusual way. She took a fresh pair of white socks, went around walking on the streets of Japan, and observed whether the sock would remain white after stepping through them. When she crossed the street and walked on the footpath, she carried her shoes in her hand. Simran said that the end result of the video depicts no dirt or stain in the socks. The views reached over 26 million within a short period, with many comments coming in from curious viewers.
Mixed Reactions: Is Japan Really This Clean?
While some people were amazed by the video, others were more skeptical. Some viewers agreed that Japan is indeed very clean, saying they couldn't believe how spotless Simran's socks were. One commenter, who was currently in Tokyo, said, "I'm in Tokyo right now and you are absolutely right about how clean Japan is." Another user simply stated, “I have been living in Japan for over 25 years and I can guarantee that the results in the video are fake. Japan is clean but not so clean that there is not a single particle of dust on that sock.”
The debate continued to grow, with some people calling Simran's experiment unrealistic. They questioned whether her test was a true reflection of everyday life in Japan. One commenter joked, "Haha sorry but i dont trust you... Without a doubt Japan is clean and all but that white socks don't stand a chance lmao."
Regardless of the heated argument, the video raised the question of whether Japan is truly clean. It is apparent that many people are captivated by Japan's cleanliness and want to know why. However, as this viral experiment shows, people have different views on just how spotless the country really is.
Whether or not Simran's socks stayed spotlessly clean, however, Japan's streets remain some of the cleanest going in the world. But as this viral experiment proves, sometimes ideas about perfection can be a little more complicated than even they would appear to be.
