HOW TO PROTECT YOUR ACCOUNT FROM HACKERS

Hackers are gonna hack but what is it that you can do to save that profile you've worked hard on for all so many years? Recent case of Kat diaries account getting hacked served as a harsh reminder. Hence take notes.

Opt for strong password

Not just strong but a very strong password. You should choose a unique password, that's easy to remember and hard to guess. Avoid birth dates, house address etc. Try to keep a different password for every social media platform. Keep all your passwords safe in “password managers.” They keep your passwords safe from hackers.

Two factor authentication

Turn on two-factor authentication for double protection of your Instagram account. It is a multi step process where a user is required to verify details if logged in from an unidentified device. If someone tries to log in then it send you a message to check, verify and allow / not allow that person to join.

Go to Settings -> Password and security -> Two factor authentication.

This will help double protect your account. A unique code will be generated and can allow new users to log in only when they have the same unique code. The code is generated once you create one and connect your account to the app.

Email and phone verification

It's important to make sure your phone number and email id is well connected and verified and up-to-date.

Set up account alerts

Receive notifications for suspicious activity, login attempts and account changes.

Use Instagram's security features and familiarize yourself with features like ‘Reels Remix' and ‘Account Status.'
