FIR Against Influencer For Performing Yoga At Golden Temple Premises

A social media Influencer, Archana Makwana landed in legal trouble after she performed yoga on the premises of Golden Temple in Amritsar. As soon as she posted the pictures on social media, her pictures went viral and she faced severe backlash. She has also apologized for the same.

Police Complaint Filed:

The incident sparked outrage among the Sikh community and The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) filed a police complaint against the woman for performing yoga inside the premises of Amritsar's Golden Temple. The SGPC has also dismissed three of its employees from their jobs for negligence in duty and fined Rs 5,000 each.

As per the news agency, SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami said the woman performed yoga and left the Golden Temple without offering prayers.

Golden Temple General Manager Bhagwant Singh Dhangera said Archana Makwana had posted her photos on her social media account.

"After verifying through the CCTV cameras, it was found that she performed yoga exercises at 7.04 a.m. after entering the premises at 6.57 a.m. She spent almost an hour in the 'Parikrama' but she had not paid a reverence during her stay," he added.

"I Was Unaware..."

The influencer has deleted the pictures and issued an apology. 

She said, "I was unaware that practicing yoga in the Gurdwara Sahib premises could be offensive to some as I was just paying my respect to him and didn't mean any harm to anyone."
