Exclusive: Maxtern on Elvish Yadav Controversy, YouTube Advice, & Bigg Boss

If you are active on social media, you must be aware of the Elvish Yadav and Sagar Thakur aka Maxtern feud. After much online debate, the controversy finally ended with a public reconciliation, however, there were many questions on the minds of users. Was it a publicity stunt? Was it for fame, etc? WhosThat360 spoke to Maxtern to know more about him, his journey, his lessons from this, and also if he is keen to do Bigg Boss. As someone who is mostly unfiltered, read what he has to say!

Maxtern, the attention around you lately has been intense. How are you handling it?

Right now, I am handling the attention I am getting quite normally. It's not the first time that I have received so much attention, so it's just a little bit unusual that this attention has also turned into something negative. It turned negative because my old videos suddenly went viral due to the joke I made about Virat Kohli and MC Stan, which was meant to be light-hearted, but it went viral in a negative way, resulting in some negative attention from his fans as well. But it's okay; I will handle that too.

Your social media mostly shows your fun side, your reels show you having fun and joking. Tell us something about yourself. Who is the real Maxtern?

My social media is all about fun and jokes. The content I create on YouTube is mainly aimed at those aged 15 to 18. On Twitter, I simply share my opinions. The real Maxtern is just a normal human. Without the camera or YouTube, I would have been someone lacking in confidence, perhaps socially introverted. Now, without the camera, I feel relaxed. I don't even think about content; I just enjoy my real life.

Also, what's the story behind your name 'Maxtern'? Is there any relevance, or did you just choose it for social media?

'Maxtern' is just a random name I chose, inspired by a term in mathematics, 'maxterm.' I simply changed the 'M' to 'N' in Maxterm, resulting in Maxtern. When I used this name, there was no other channel with it. There's no significant relevance to it.

Many people also accused you of creating this controversy for views and other things. What would you like to say to them?

I speak the truth in everything I do. I believe in being unfiltered, expressing whatever comes to mind without considering whether it might offend someone. I simply don't care about the influence of the person in front of me. However, whenever the name of influential people is mentioned while I'm speaking the truth, it often creates controversy.

In one of your videos, you said that for you, your mom and dad's peace is more important than your self-respect. Was that the reason you took that case back?

Yes, as I mentioned, my parents' peace of mind is important to me. You're aware of the lengthy legal process; it can be emotionally draining. Within just two days, my parents were deeply worried. When the offer to resolve the matter came to me, I considered it the better option. Instead of prolonging the issue, I chose to resolve it. If I had gone ahead with the FIR, it would have cost me a lot, and honestly, the other party had ample resources, so it wouldn't have affected them much monetarily.

This must have been one of the most exhausting times for your family as well. 

Yes, this was the most exhausting time of my life, and it was exhausting for my family as well. We hadn't slept for 24 hours, and for some days, we only slept for 2-2 hours for 3-4 days. We weren't even thirsty or hungry; it was an exhausting time.

Whatever happened, you and Elvish Yadav hugged it out, and now you worked on a song together. How has your bond changed?

Whatever happened, Elvish and I hugged each other. Speaking about the bond, we had a good relationship earlier as well. It's just that due to some misunderstandings, we fought. I believe that when two good people fight, the issue is usually resolved after talking. So, that's what happened. Yes, the bond changed and became better than before.

Do shows like Bigg Boss excite you? Would you want to be a participant?

Honestly, I don't give a damn about shows like Bigg Boss. It doesn't excite me at all, and I don't even like it. The only reason I watched that one season of Bigg Boss OTT2 was for Abhishek Malhan and Elvish Yadav, both of whom I knew. If there was no one familiar to me, I wouldn't have enjoyed it at all.

There is a lot of trolling on social media, and you have spoken about it impacting your mental health. What's your take on that?

Mental health is very important, and honestly, on social media, mental health can deteriorate, especially when you're reading a lot of hate comments. So, when I receive too many hate comments, I just uninstall social media.

What is one thing you would change if you could go back and alter anything that has happened?

I won't change anything because changing won't make a difference. I don't think about the past or future; I live in the present, so I don't think I would like to change anything. But if there were a chance to go back in the past and change something, I'd make sure people only see love in my personality.

What advice would you give to aspiring YouTubers?

My advice would be to keep creating content, work hard, and keep researching. If not today, someday, you'll succeed on YouTube. The only way to fail is to stop trying. So, don't give up.

Do the memes and all the jokes about the whole incident bother you at all?

Jokes and memes are made all the time, so honestly, it's not a big deal.

The biggest lesson from this controversy? Also any regrets? 

The only lesson I learned from this controversy is that before getting into an argument with someone, the issue should be resolved through dialogue, not by fighting. Of course, I regret this controversy because I didn't fully understand Elvish, didn't clarify the misunderstanding, and unintentionally provoked his fans, which I shouldn't have done. So, that is my biggest regret.

Lastly, what message would you like to give to your fans?

Lastly, I would like to say to my fans that what you see on social media isn't always the reality. Friends may not always be friends, and enemies may not always be enemies. Sometimes, those you consider enemies turn out to be friends, and vice versa.
