  • Vijay Nihalchandani fails to secure any investments in Shark Tank India

Recently, business influencer Vijay Nihalchandani made an appearance on Shark Tank India to pitch his startup, Make My Payment. He requested Rs 30 lakh in return for 3% of his business. Make My Payment is an app designed to help businesses collect past-due amounts by automatically reminding those who have fallen behind on their payments. But the Sharks weren't impressed by the pitch.

Sharks Criticize Business Model

The Sharks quickly questioned the app's usefulness. Anupam Mittal, the founder of Shaadi.com, was very harsh. Mittal sarcastically recommended that Nihalchandani run a street-side cart instead of continuing with the program after realizing that barely 200 of 3,500 registered users were paying subscribers. His forthright remarks raised questions about the app's viability.

Concerns Over Effectiveness of Automated Reminders

Emcure Pharmaceuticals' Executive Director, Namita Thapar, also expressed worry about the app's income strategy. She pointed out that users may simply ignore or disable the periodic reminders, raising questions about the app's potential to help businesses recover cash. This anxiety heightened the Sharks' concerns about the app's long-term viability.

Aman Gupta Questions Entrepreneur's Commitment

BoAt co-founder Aman Gupta questioned Nihalchandani's focus on the app. Gupta inquired into Nihalchandani's other business endeavors and discovered that the entrepreneur owned a hotel booking company in addition to making Rs 5 lakh a month from Instagram. Despite this, Gupta remained unconvinced that the app could become a sustainable business.

Since the Sharks were still skeptical about Make My Payment's prospects, Nihalchandani ultimately failed to get any investment from them.
