Shedding light on one of the major problems in our country that we have been experiencing in many states of our countries in recent days is flooding, Aalekh Kapoor shared an insightful reel introducing its viewers to the concept of Sponge City.

The repercussions of this disruption are far-reaching, leading to various complications, including flooding. To lessen this problem, the concept of sponge cities was introduced. A sponge city is designed to have a higher water-absorbing capacity, achieved through the installation of large parks, wetlands, ponds, and water-absorbing roads.

China has been at the forefront of implementing sponge cities, with 30 such cities already in existence. Aalekh highlights this progress while also mentioning the possibility of Chennai becoming India's first sponge city.
