What inspired you to share your interior design expertise on social media?
I feel there is a gap and a lack of design literacy. While there is content being created to raise awareness about personal finance, body positivity, and so much more, I felt no one was talking about tips and tricks when it comes to home construction and renovations. Each interior design page I saw was about the aesthetic spaces they had designed and not about the "how" and "why," which pushed me to create content that helps people make wise decisions.
How do you come up with content ideas?
My page is a byproduct of my interior design work. I never plan content or have a calendar; rather, I have just started documenting my daily life as an interior designer. Whether it's shooting the work at a construction site or selecting materials, I just keep documenting it and posting, advising people just like I advise my clients.
What's the most popular topic or theme among your followers?
Any technical knowledge, dos and don'ts, budget-friendly interior design tips, and space-saving hacks.
What's the biggest misconception about interior design that you aim to dispel through your content?
People feel interior design is just about aesthetics, but it's much more. There is functionality, and each home should be comfortable and tailor-made to fit its user's personality. I am trying to explain that through my posts, making the journey of designing homes simplified.
What's the most common design mistake you see people make, and how can they avoid it?
Trying to blindly follow trends and copy Pinterest and Instagram images. Each home is different; while you can be inspired by these images, design is a process with many layers, and understanding the technical and functional aspects is more important.
If you could design a dream home for anyone, who would it be and why?
Honestly, that would be for me. I have designed over 100 homes for different clients, and each time I picked something from them for myself. I know myself more than anyone, and designing a happy home for my little family is a dream.
What's the one design element that can instantly elevate a room?
Lighting. It has the power to enhance or destroy any space.
If you could go back in time and give advice to your younger self just starting out in interior design, what would it be?
Don't overstress and try to figure out everything at once. Focus on your “why,” take one day at a time, and it will all work out!
