Can you tell us about your journey from being a lawyer to becoming an Interview Coach and Digital Content Creator? What inspired you to make this transition?

From lawyer to Interview Coach and Digital Content Creator, my journey has been driven by a passion for helping individuals succeed in their careers. While pursuing LLB, I started offering training at my institute after discovering the value of communication skills and interview preparation. Life had a twist in store for me and the COVID-19 pandemic hit which forced me to adapt and take my coaching online. With the help of platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn, I was able to expand my network after the pandemic.

As the founder of English Compiled, what motivated you to start this venture, and how has it evolved?

When I started English Compiled, I was driven to assist individuals in achieving success in their professional journeys. Over the years, it has evolved from a physical institute to a flourishing online platform. To extend its reach and impact, English Compiled now offers services such as resume writing, interview guidance, LinkedIn personalization, personal branding, and communication skill development. I'm grateful to be regarded as the candidate's go-to interview coach with a growing subscriber base of 2 million people worldwide.

With such a diverse range of companies that your students have secured positions in, what key qualities or skills do you emphasize during your coaching sessions?

I put a lot of emphasis on developing key qualities and practical skills throughout my coaching sessions so that my students can confidently excel in interviews across different companies. This includes effective communication, thorough research, quantifying achievements, mock interviews, and non-verbal communication. If you strengthen these qualities and skills, you can confidently get through the interview process and make a good impression on the interviewers.

How do you ensure that your videos effectively guide and resonate with your audience to help them achieve interview success?

I research my audience to understand their needs and struggles. I try to provide solutions that make difficult topics easier to understand with straightforward language. I also try to create a collaborative learning environment by inviting engagement and feedback. Additionally, I monitor analytics and viewer comments to gauge the effect of my videos and make modifications as needed.

How do you approach teaching communication skills and interview preparation in your workshops, seminars, and live sessions? Can you give us some insights into your teaching methodology?

I teach interview preparation and communication skills in workshops. This includes practice sessions and mock interviews. This helps candidates prepare for the interview and makes them more comfortable and confident. I help them structure their responses using templates and frameworks. I also emphasize one-on-one problem-solving sessions so that I can reply to specific questions and offer tailored feedback.

What challenges did you face when shifting from in-person teaching to online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic? How did you overcome those challenges?

Shifting from in-person to online teaching presented several challenges. One major hurdle was adapting to the virtual environment and finding innovative ways to keep students engaged and motivated. However, I overcame these challenges by incorporating interactive activities, utilizing different online platforms, and providing ongoing support to students. Regular communication, clear instructions, and troubleshooting assistance helped me navigate the transition successfully. Additionally, continuous feedback and adapting teaching strategies based on student needs and feedback helped ensure effective online learning experiences.

What is the one thing that you enjoy and hate the most about your work as a content creator?

Delivering knowledge is my passion, and this is how I entered the field of teaching. So according to me, the best part of creating content is that it helps me spread knowledge to millions of people all over the world. It lets me add value to the lives of people and change the world for the better. I don't see any downside to content creation, and I love doing what I am doing.

Could you share a success story or memorable experience of a student whose career you helped shape through your coaching and guidance?

'Akka, my parents want to thank you for helping me get a job because I am the only earning member of the family', a student said in a handwritten note. I will always treasure that message! Such messages serve as a reminder of the significance and influence of my job.

Your Instagram channel has gained immense popularity with over 1 million followers. What do you think is the 'key' or 'that main element' in your content that makes it so much popular among the masses and resonates well with the audience?

The important component of my content is its relatability. I make an effort to provide content that discusses common challenges and issues people have during interviews. I build a personal connection with my audience by offering guidance, actionable recommendations, and real-life examples, and because of this, people are more likely to connect with my content, trust me more, and ultimately like what I share.

In your opinion, what are the most common mistakes that candidates make during interviews, and how can they avoid or overcome them?

Candidates should research the company and position they're interviewing for before going for an interview to avoid mistakes. Mock interviews can also help you develop confidence and enhance your communication abilities. Showing up on time, paying attention throughout the interview, and asking thoughtful inquiries can all make a good impression.

What level of patience is needed when starting to create and post videos until you gain the attention of a larger audience?

It takes time and effort to get people to watch your videos. You have to make multiple videos and keep publishing them regularly. You have to actively engage with your audience. If you want your content to grow and attract a larger audience, you have to be patient and keep at it.

How do you keep yourself updated with the latest trends and changes in the job market and adapt your coaching strategies accordingly?

I attend conferences, seminars, webinars, and other events dedicated to professional development and job market development. As a result, I can improve my coaching methods by learning from professionals in my field and other thought leaders. I also promote open communication with my students and take the time to learn about their experiences, difficulties, and criticism. This enables me to see new patterns and modify my coaching strategies to successfully meet each candidate's unique needs.

Looking ahead, what are your plans and goals as an Interview Coach and Digital Content Creator? Are there any specific areas or aspects you wish to focus on or expand into?

I'm excited about making an even bigger impact by creating more valuable content in the future. My goal is to empower candidates from all over the world, helping them ace their interviews with ease and confidence and land their dream jobs. In the coming years, I plan to expand my reach further and explore additional avenues to provide career guidance and support. This includes developing comprehensive online courses, hosting webinars, and collaborating with other experts in the industry.
