Kripa Joshi is a popular fashion, beauty, and lifestyle influencer. She exclusively speaks to Jayveer Singh about her content creation journey, how she started it, and how her content creation process looks like. She also shares her thoughts on online scrutiny.

Here are a few edited excerpts of this delightful conversation.

What inspires your makeup and hair styling work?

Well, I believe in enhancing individual beauty while creating different looks that reflect the wearer's personality. So, you can say my inspiration is people around me and their stories and what comforts them in makeup and hair. I try to come up with ideas that cater to the majority of people.. like when I show the hair and makeup everyone should be able to do it.

How do you look back at your content creation journey?

I wasn't perfect at all but I was true to myself and committed to what I wanted to achieve. Looking back, I feel a deep sense of gratitude and growth. Also realizing that consistency was the Key!!

Every project has taught me valuable lessons, from refining my skills in makeup and hair styling to understanding the importance of connecting with my audience. I've enjoyed experimenting with different styles and techniques and finally finding my own and I appreciate the support and feedback I've received along the way.

What's your content creation process like?

It starts with lots of brainstorming. I would say nights and nights of brainstorming. You have to have a hook or idea based on trends, themes, or specific concepts that will be true to yourself, your page, and your audience.

Once I have it all finalized then comes buying the product preparing my materials and setting up a visually appealing space for shooting. Trust me it's a task.

During the shoot, I focus on capturing the details and nuances of each look, ensuring that lighting and angles highlight my work effectively.

Then comes the editing part as most videos are way longer when we shoot but then make it to the point when it can hold the audience's interest through, I cut it down a little keeping the essence intact.

Throughout the process, I prioritize authenticity, reliability, and creativity, aiming to inspire my audience with every piece of content.

How do you balance work and motherhood?

Frankly balancing work and motherhood is a challenging yet rewarding journey for me. As a mom of two boys, ages 3 and 9, I prioritize their study schedules and classes, ensuring we spend quality time together each day. I've established a routine that includes an hour of gadget-free time before bed, where we sit down and talk about our day, which helps us stay connected. My husband plays a vital role in this balance, taking care of the kids while I handle my work commitments. He is genuinely the best.

How do you maintain your personal brand?

Being genuine and transparent about my journey, helps me connect with my audience on a deeper level. I want my personal brand to remain relatable and true to who I am. If I make a mistake, I own, it up. That's the best part I have done for my brand.

Also regularly assessing my goals and adapting to trends also helps keep my brand fresh and relevant.

How do you handle negative comments or trolls on social media?

Handling negative comments and trolls on social media has been a journey for me. Initially, I received a lot of hate for my heavy Indian accent, which really hurt. However, I stayed true to myself, and now my accent has become one of my biggest unique selling points globally, people love it! I also faced body-shaming comments, but I always responded gracefully, reinforcing the idea that everybody is beautiful. Over time, I've learned to let negative comments roll off my back. Now, if I encounter trolls, I find that they often increase my engagement, which is a bonus, haha!

Developing a thick skin is essential. I focus on constructive feedback and use it to grow, but I don't let negativity bring me down. Instead, I transform it into positivity through my content, creating a space that celebrates authenticity and self-love. Ultimately, staying positive in my personal life has become key to my happiness.

How do you stay current with the latest beauty trends and incorporate them into your content?

To stay current with the latest beauty trends, I actively follow industry influencers, beauty blogs, and social media platforms. I make it a point to attend beauty events and workshops whenever possible, as they provide valuable insights into emerging styles and techniques.

I also engage with my audience to understand their interests and preferences, which helps me tailor my content to what resonates with them. Once I identify a trend, I experiment with it in my work, showcasing how it can be adapted to different looks and styles.

What are your goals for your content creation career, and how do you see your brand evolving in the next year?

Ahh manifesting my own beauty brand but realistically my goals for my content creation career are to continue expanding my reach and influence in the beauty industry while inspiring others through my work. I aim to collaborate with more brands that align with my values and aesthetics, allowing me to showcase diverse products and techniques.

In the next year, I see my brand evolving by incorporating more educational content, such as tutorials and behind-the-scenes looks at my process. I also want to strengthen my community by engaging more with my audience and addressing their beauty concerns directly. Additionally, I plan to explore new platforms and formats, like live sessions or workshops, to connect with my followers in real-time. Ultimately, I want my brand to reflect a holistic approach to beauty that celebrates authenticity, creativity, and self-love.
