What motivated you to start creating content as a sexual health educator and how did you break into the field?
My passion for destigmatizing sexual health topics and empowering people with accurate information drove me to start creating content. I began by sharing resources and insights online, which gradually helped me build a platform and network within the field. Seeing the need for open and honest discussions about sexual health, I was inspired to contribute by providing reliable information and fostering a community that encourages healthy dialogue.
How do you ensure that your content is both informative and engaging for your audience?
I strive to blend factual information with relatable anecdotes and engaging visuals. Understanding my audience's needs and preferences allows me to tailor my content to resonate with them while delivering valuable insights. Additionally, I make sure my videos use friendly and accessible language to make complex topics easy to understand and relatable.
Can you share a specific instance where your content has helped break the stigma around sexual health or women's hygiene?
One memorable instance was when I received messages from individuals thanking me for addressing taboo topics openly. They shared how my content encouraged them to seek help and discuss these issues more openly with friends and family. What inspired you to found UnBound and how do you see it contributing to your mission?
The inspiration behind UnBound was my desire to create inclusively, empowering products that prioritize sexual wellness. Through UnBound, we provide accessible resources and promote healthy dialogue, furthering our mission to destigmatize sexual health. By offering products and education, we aim to empower individuals to take control of their sexual wellness without shame.
What are some of the biggest challenges you've faced in your journey as a sexual health advocate and how have you overcome them?Navigating societal taboos and facing criticism were significant challenges. I persevered by staying focused on my mission, seeking support from like-minded communities, and leveraging education and advocacy to drive change. These efforts helped me build resilience and continue pushing for societal acceptance and understanding of sexual health issues.
How have your family and friends supported you in your work, particularly in the face of societal pressures?My family and friends have been pillars of support, offering encouragement and understanding during challenging times. Their unwavering belief in my mission provided me with the strength and resilience needed to navigate societal pressures. Their support has been crucial in helping me stay committed to my goals.
What advice do you have for others looking to become sexual health advocates or content creators?
My advice is to stay true to your passion and values, prioritize education and research, and embrace authenticity in your content. Surround yourself with a supportive community and don't be afraid to challenge societal norms. This approach will help you effect positive change and build a meaningful platform.
How do you approach addressing taboo topics like sex education and menstrual hygiene in your content?
I approach these topics with sensitivity, empathy, and factual accuracy. By creating a safe and inclusive space for dialogue, I aim to normalize discussions around sex education and menstrual hygiene. This fosters greater awareness and understanding, helping to dismantle the stigma surrounding these issues.
