Ingredients for a Flavorful Experience

Vegetables:

  • 1 1/2 cup corn (3 cobs of corn, boiled)
  • 1/2 cup paneer or tofu (cubed)
  • 1/2 cup peanuts
  • 1/3 cup mixed color bell peppers (finely chopped)
  • 1/2 cup onions (finely chopped)
  • 2 tbsp cilantro with tender stems
  • 3 dried red chilies
  • 1 tsp garlic paste
  • 1 tsp ginger-green chili paste
  • 3 tbsp oil

Sauce:

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp vinegar
  • 2 tsp hot sauce
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tsp tomato ketchup
  • 1 1/2 tsp honey (or sugar)
  • 1 tsp chaat masala
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp salt

Preparing the Perfect Monsoon Snack

Step 1: Prepare the Vegetables

Start by boiling the corn cobs and then cutting the kernels off. Cube the paneer or tofu, finely chop the bell peppers and onions, and prepare the cilantro, dried red chilies, garlic paste, and ginger-green chili paste.

Step 2: Toast the Peanuts

In a tawa or a flat pan, heat the oil and toast the peanuts until they are golden brown. Remove the peanuts and set them aside.

Step 3: Sauté the Vegetables

In the same tawa, add the dried red chilies, garlic paste, and ginger-green chili paste. Sauté until fragrant, then add the onions and bell peppers. Cook until they are slightly tender.

Step 4: Add the Corn and Paneer/Tofu

Next, add the boiled corn kernels and cubed paneer or tofu to the tawa. Toss everything together and let it cook for a few minutes.

Step 5: Mix the Sauce

In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, vinegar, hot sauce, tomato paste, tomato ketchup, honey or sugar, chaat masala, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt.

Step 6: Combine Everything

Pour the sauce mixture over the sautéed vegetables and corn. Toss everything well to ensure the sauce evenly coats all the ingredients. Cook for another few minutes until everything is well incorporated.

Serve and Enjoy

Serve the Street Style Tawa Corn hot, garnished with chopped cilantro. Pair it with a cup of karak chai for the ultimate monsoon experience. This snack is perfect for sharing with friends and family or for enjoying on your own as you listen to the rain outside.
