Saloni Kukreja, a well-known food influencer, again comes with its mouth-watering, delicious ‘Dahi Vada' recipe. With just a few easily available ingredients and simple steps, you will be able to recreate this typical Indian dish in your own kitchen. This recipe is packed with yogurt, flavorful spices and delicious chutney, making it a perfect choice for everyone. So, let's take a look and discover how to make Saloni Kukreja's delicious dahi vada. 

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup Urad Dal
  • 1/2 cup Mung Dal
  • 3-4 tbsp Water
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 Green Chilli - finely chopped
  • 1/2” Ginger - finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 3 cups Warm Water
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/4th tsp Hing
  • 1 cup Dahi
  • 1/2 tbsp powdered Sugar
  • Chutneys - green and sweet
  • Salt TT
  • Chili powder
  • Cumin powder
  • Chaat masala
  • Pomegranate
  • Sev

Method:

  • Wash both the dal 3-4 times - soak for at least 2-3 hours or preferably overnight.
  • Strain the dal and blend it with green chili, ginger, baking powder, salt and very little water around 3-4 tbsp.
  • Blend until thick - the mixture should be coarse.
  • Beat the mixture with hands or a hand beater until it is light in color and increased in volume.
  • Test it to see if it's ready by adding it to water. If the batter floats - it is ready.
  • Heat oil in a kadhai, dip your spoon in the oil and add spoonful of the batter one by one.
  • Fry them in medium hot oil for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • For soaking the vadas, add salt and hing to warm water and soak the vadas in it by placing a plate on top and let it sit for 5-6 minutes.
  • Whisk the dahi with sugar and salt to it.
  • Assemble gently and squeeze out water from the vadas. Place them and put dahi, spices like chili powder, jeera powder, chat masala, tamarind chutney and green chutney.
  • Garnish with chopped coriander, sev, pomegranate and enjoy!
