Walnut & Red Chilli Chutney Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 Onion
  • 3 Garlic cloves
  • 2 Kashmiri Chillies (soaked)
  • 1 Begdi Chilli (soaked)
  • 4 Tbsps California Walnuts
  • 2 Tbsps Tamarind Pulp
  • 1 Tsp Jaggery Powder or Sugar
  • Juice of 1/2 Lime
  • Salt to taste
  • 2-3 Tbsps Water
  • 1/2 Tbsp Neutral Oil
  • A pinch of Hing (Asafoetida)
  • 5-6 Curry leaves
  • 1 Tbsp Chopped Walnuts
  • 1 Dried Red Chilli

Process

  • Soak Chillies: Soak the dried red chillies in hot water.
  • Toast Walnuts: Toast the walnuts on low-medium heat for 5-6 minutes until golden brown.
  • Saute: Add oil to a pan along with onion, garlic, and soaked red chillies. Saute for a few minutes.
  • Blend: Add everything to a blender with salt, jaggery, lime juice, tamarind paste, and water. Blend until smooth.
  • Tadka: Heat oil, add chopped walnuts, dried chilli, hing, and curry leaves.
  • Serve: Top the chutney with the tadka. Serve with your favorite accompaniment and enjoy!
