Walnut & Red Chilli Chutney Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 Onion
- 3 Garlic cloves
- 2 Kashmiri Chillies (soaked)
- 1 Begdi Chilli (soaked)
- 4 Tbsps California Walnuts
- 2 Tbsps Tamarind Pulp
- 1 Tsp Jaggery Powder or Sugar
- Juice of 1/2 Lime
- Salt to taste
- 2-3 Tbsps Water
- 1/2 Tbsp Neutral Oil
- A pinch of Hing (Asafoetida)
- 5-6 Curry leaves
- 1 Tbsp Chopped Walnuts
- 1 Dried Red Chilli
Process
- Soak Chillies: Soak the dried red chillies in hot water.
- Toast Walnuts: Toast the walnuts on low-medium heat for 5-6 minutes until golden brown.
- Saute: Add oil to a pan along with onion, garlic, and soaked red chillies. Saute for a few minutes.
- Blend: Add everything to a blender with salt, jaggery, lime juice, tamarind paste, and water. Blend until smooth.
- Tadka: Heat oil, add chopped walnuts, dried chilli, hing, and curry leaves.
- Serve: Top the chutney with the tadka. Serve with your favorite accompaniment and enjoy!
