Craving chips but looking for a healthier alternative? Chef Aashti, the talented food content creator, has you covered with her delightful vegan lentil chips recipe. These crispy bites, high in protein and flavor, are sure to become your new snacking obsession. With just a handful of ingredients and a dash of creativity, you can transform simple red lentils into a crunchy and savory treat that satisfies both your taste buds and your health-conscious side.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup red lentils (red masoor dal), soaked in water for 1-2 hours
- 1 cup water
- Salt (adjust to taste)
- Juice of 1/2 a lemon
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 2 tbsp any neutral oil
Instructions:
- Begin by washing and soaking the red lentils in water for a few hours. This step ensures a smoother blending process.
- After soaking, place the lentils in a high-speed blender along with the remaining ingredients: water, salt, lemon juice, chili powder, and neutral oil.
- Blend until the mixture reaches a smooth consistency, resembling a thin dosa batter.
- Line a baking tray with parchment paper and evenly spread the blended mixture into a thin layer.
- Bake the mixture at 180 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes, allowing it to transform into crispy chips.
- Once baked, remove the tray from the oven, carefully peel off the parchment paper, and then cut the baked mixture into chip-shaped triangles.
- Transfer the triangles onto a wire rack and return them to the oven for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the edges turn golden and the chips achieve a satisfying crunch.
Chef Aashti's Tips:
Expect the batter to have the consistency of a thin dosa batter, ensuring it spreads evenly on the tray during baking.
While spreading the mixture onto the parchment paper, prevent it from sticking to the sides for easy removal later. If sticking occurs, you can bake it briefly until it slightly hardens, then use a sharp knife to cut the edges.
