Ingredients:

  • 1 cup ragi (finger millet)
  • 1/4 cup green moong & whole masoor
  • 2 Tablespoons urad dal
  • 1/2 teaspoon methi seeds

Method:

  • Washed 2-3 times and soaked 4-5 hours.
  • Grind with chilies & salt.
  • To a thick, smooth batter.
  • Ferment 8 hours/ overnight.
  • Add a little water if needed.

Points to be Remember: 

  • Grind this in a mixer. Ragi grains take a while to grind, don't worry if your batter seems grainy, pause and grind some more until smooth.
  • The batter should be free, not too thick or too thin.
  • Ferment on the counter and not in the fridge!
  • In hot weather, the batter might ferment within 3-4 hours.
  • You can double/ triple the recipe as needed.
