Ingredients:

  • Toor dal ¼ cup 
  • Masoor dal ¼ cup
  • Chana dal ¼ cup
  • Urad dal ¼ cup 
  • Green moong split ¼ cup 
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric powder ¼ cup 
  • Water as required
  • Ghee 1 tsp 

Tempering:

  • Ghee or oil 2 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Garlic 1 tbsp chopped
  • Ginger 1 tbsp chopped
  • Green chili 2 chopped
  • Hing ¼  tsp 
  • Onion 1 chopped
  • Turmeric powder ½ tsp
  • Kashmiri red chili powder 2 tsp
  • Coriander powder 1 tsp
  • Tomato 1 chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • Hot water splash
  • Garam masala ¼ tsp 
  • Kasuri methi 1 tbsp
  • Fresh coriander chopped handful

Method:

  • Wash all dal, soak for 2-3 hours, discard the water & transfer the dal into the cooker with salt, haldi, 2 tbsp ghee, and water 1 inch above dal, and cook it till pressure cook 3 whistles.
  • In Kadai add ghee,cumin seeds along with red chillies, garlic, ginger, green chillies & asafoetida, stir well & cook the ginger & garlic for 1-2 minutes over high flame.
  • Further, add onion & cook till golden brown.
  •  Add chopped tomato along with salt & haldi. Once the tomato is mushy add spices and cook for another 2 minutes. After that add some water and soak dal.
  • Bring to a boil and finish with water if needed to adjust consistency, add kasuri methi, garam masala & fresh coriander, and stir well.
  • Drizzle some ghee before serving
