Fed up with Regular Dal? Try this Mouth-Watering Dal Chaat Recipe

We often get bored of eating regular food then we need something innovative to add a twist to our day-to-day recipes. Dal is always our comfort food but there is no denial in it that sometimes, we don't want to eat dal. So, here we are with a very interesting recipe of Dal Chaat that all you can try. Shared by Priyanka Kapoor, the recipe is easy to execute and the health quotient of Dal stays intact.
The detailed recipe is mentioned below:
Ingredients-
To cook dal-
- Yellow moong dal 1 cup
- Salt to taste
- Turmeric powder 1 tsp
- Red chilli powder 1 tsp
- Oil 1 tbsp
- Water 2 cups
For salad -
- Finely chopped onion 1 medium
- finely chopped tomato 1 medium
- finely chopped cucumber
- Grated carrot
- Chopped mint leaves 5-6
- Black salt/ kala namak 1 tsp
- Black pepper powder 1 tsp
- Chaat masala 1 tsp
- Roasted cumin powder 1 tsp
- Lemon juice
- Chopped Coriander and pomegranate seeds for garnishing
Procedure:
- Wash and soak the moong dal in hot water for at least 15 to 20 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the oil. Once the oil is hot add the drained moong dal, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Then add the water and mix in. Cover and cook for 10- 15 minutes or until all the water has been absorbed and the dal is cooked.
- Switch off the heat. Transfer the cooked dal to a bowl and fluff.
- Bring the dal to room temperature, then add all the chopped veggies to the bowl and toss well. Then add the spices and lime juice and toss.
- Serve topped with coriander and pomegranate seeds and enjoy !!!!
This flavourful healthy meal is easy to make and good for gut health as well. You can try this whenever you are bored with your regular meal.
