Priyanka Kundu Biswas is not just a food influencer and chef; she has become a household name after captivating the audience with her remarkable performance on the Indian culinary show 'MasterChef' season 7. Her exquisite delicacies and unwavering commitment to principles have made her a fan favourite.

Throughout the competition, Priyanka demonstrated her exceptional talent while extending a helping hand to her fellow competitors, earning the admiration and respect of viewers.

Priyanka Kundu Biswas opened up in an exclusive interview about her remarkable journey.

You were in the corporate sector. When did you realize you were in the wrong profession?

So, I used to work for a multinational company, a proper corporate job. I used to work day and night like anything. During the first six months of my job, I fell sick and couldn't eat outside food. That's when I started cooking my food, and that's when the experiments began. My office colleagues used to appreciate my food and started calling me MasterChef. After three years of working there, I wanted to give it a chance and pursue a culinary course, but my parents were against it and didn't let me quit my job. Then I went to the US and got busy. After five years, I realized it was too much. I said to my manager ki ma 14 ghanta metro ke neecha momo ka thala lagoogi na tab bhi iss jayda kama lungi(Even if I open a momo stall for 14 hours under the metro station, I can earn more than this), and I quit my job.

How do you define your 'MasterChef' journey?

So, it was not my first attempt. It was my third attempt. I was rejected twice before, but I never gave up. I kept trying, and this year I was fully prepared but with zero expectations. And I made it. I was amazed to see the dish I made for my name apron challenge.

The judges criticized you for helping others instead of focusing on your dish, like the Baa incident. What do you have to say about that?

I wouldn't have felt bad if I had been eliminated after helping Baa, even in the first round. I understand MasterChef is a big show, but I can't do something my conscience doesn't allow.

Who was your favorite judge on the show?

Chef Vikas, we share an absolutely heart-to-heart bond.

Whom did you consider your biggest competition on the show?

Deepa Mam, I was really inspired by Deepa Chauhan. Her knowledge was next level; she knew everything about the ingredients that were very new to us.

How do you look back at your eviction? Your fans called it unfair. What do you have to say about that?

That was not my day, simple. But I never expected that I would receive that much love. Chef Vikas said that there is one person who will win the show, and there is one person whom people will remember. In this season, I felt I was that person who received immense love. They are my extended family now.

Do you think Nayanjyoti Saikia is the deserving winner?

Yes, I think his win is justified. I was rooting for him.

If given a chance, who would you choose as the winner of 'MasterChef 7' excluding Nayanjyoti Saikia and yourself?

I would choose Baa. She has next-level energy, hats off to her.

How is your life after 'MasterChef'?

My life is pretty chilled out, and it's the same. People come and say how grounded and humble I am. I believe in giving back to society and the love we receive.

Who is your inspiration in the food business?

My grandmother, she used to cook amazing food. I started cooking because of her.

One piece of advice you would like to give to people in the food business?

Just keep practicing, and don't focus on the results. Keep going. "Kabil bano, kamiyabi jhak marke peecha aayegi" (Be capable, success will come knocking at your door), a dialogue from the movie' 3 Idiots'. I still follow it.
