Meghna, a famous food influencer who is known for her unique and tasty recipe, has come up with another unique and delicious recipe: Moong Dhokla. This high-protein dish is not only easy to make but also requires no frying—just steam cook it! You can even add a tadka for an extra burst of flavor, but it's totally optional.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Whole Moong (soaked in water for 4 hours)
  • Green Chillies (to taste)
  • 1 small Ginger Knob
  • Coriander Leaves
  • 1/2 cup Curd (Dahi)
  • Water (as needed)
  • 1/2 cup Semolina (Suji; soaked rice can be used as an alternative)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • 1 small packet Fruit Salt (Eno)
  • Red Chilli Powder

For Tadka:

  • Oil
  • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds (Rai)
  • 2 tsp White Sesame Seeds (Safed Til)
  • Pinch of Asafoetida Powder (Hing)
  • Chopped Coriander

How to Prepare Moong Dhokla?

  • In a mixer jar, add 1 cup soaked Moong.
  • Add Green Chillies (as per your taste).
  • Add a small Ginger Knob.
  • Add Coriander Leaves.
  • Add 1/2 cup Curd (Dahi) and a little Water. Grind to make a smooth batter.
  • Mix in 1/2 cup Semolina (Suji).
  • Meghna's Tip: The batter should be semi-thick.
  • Add Salt to taste and let the batter rest for 15 minutes.
  • Heat the steamer and let the water come to a boil.
  • Add 1 small packet of Fruit Salt (Eno) to the batter. Mix well.
  • Pour the batter into a greased plate and sprinkle Red Chilli Powder on top.
  • Tip: For making dhokla in batches, use half a packet of Eno for half the batter.
  • Place the plate in the preheated steamer. Cover with a lid and steam for 15 minutes on high heat.
  • Check if it's done. Cut it into pieces.

To Prepare Tadka:

  • Heat Oil in a pan.
  • Add 1 tsp Mustard Seeds (Rai).
  • Add 2 tsp White Sesame Seeds (Safed Til).
  • Add a pinch of Asafoetida Powder (Hing).
  • Add the cut dhokla and toss them.
  • Sprinkle chopped Coriander on top.

Enjoy your scrumptious whole moong dhokla with your favorite chutney!
