  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1-inch cinnamon stick
  • 2 cloves
  • 2 cardamom (elaichi)
  • 3-4 dried red chilies
  • 1 tsp peppercorns
  • 2 green chilies
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
  • 1 tbsp red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder (dhaniya powder)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp cumin powder (jeera powder)
  • 2 tbsp mustard oil (heated)
  • 2-3 tbsp mustard oil (for cooking)
  • 1/2 cup yogurt (dahi)
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala

Instructions:

  • First, take a large bowl. Mix together onions, garlic, ginger, dried red chilies, green chilies, cinnamon, bay leaves, cloves, cardamom, peppercorns, turmeric, red chili powder, salt, coriander powder, cumin powder, and paneer cubes. Add mustard oil to it and mix well.
  • Heat 2-3 tablespoons of mustard oil in a deep, earthen pot. Swirl it around to coat the sides, and remove the excess oil.
  • Now add the prepared paneer mixture to the pot. Cover it and cook on a medium flame for almost 10 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, combine the yogurt, red chili powder, turmeric, and coriander powder and add it to the pot. Also, pour in the water and sprinkle garam masala on top. Gently stir everything.
  • Seal the pot after placing dough across the edges and sealing it with the lid. Cover it and let it cook on very low heat for another 10 minutes.
  • You can serve these hot Paneer Champaran recipes with chapatis or rice sprinkled with a few onions and some green chilies.
