Exclusive: An Unfiltered Conversation with Varun Sood

What was your original career aspiration before entering the entertainment industry?

I wanted to join the army like my father and my grandfather.

It's been a while since you are in this industry. How do you look back at your journey?

I think it's a journey where I have learned a lot. From being a contestant to being a VJ and now an actor. It's taken a lot of learning to be at every stage

On every step, there is the completion in the industry. What does it take to stay relevant?

I think I have kept my goals very straight. I constantly want to keep working. 

What do you believe was the biggest turning point in your career?

My turning point was getting into acting I feel. It gave me a piece of mind that if I stay true to what I want and continue to work towards it. Good things will happen

You've been a part of films, series, as well as reality shows. What is your personal favorite form?

I love acting.. its the best feeling when so many people on and off camera come together and make magic happen. It's pure and feels like a team

Who do you look up to for inspiration when it comes to acting?

I love Ranbir Kapoor as an actor I think he is extremely organic, every time he is on screen it's just effortless.

In your upcoming project, you will be seen opposite Ananya Panday, tell us more about that. How did it happen, what was it like to work with her?

I had to go through a few auditions to get my part in Call me bae and Ananya is a great co-actor to have. She is funny, very professional, and keeps the team together. Her work ethic is beautiful and everyone on set with her was all smiles.

You recently also started your own merch brand, what inspired you to start VS?

I wanted to start my brand for a while. The inspiration came from athletes who have their personal brand and use it to spread a message that they believe in. So I followed in the same footsteps

What is the biggest lesson you have learned in life?

Keep working towards your goal. No matter what the circumstances are, all your hard work will one day pay off. So keep at it.

If you could go back and change one thing in your career, or life, what would it be?

Nothing at all. Every stage has taught me something. I would keep everything the way it is.
