The gut's health plays an important role in your overall health. Gastroenterologist Dr. Saurabh Sethi shares four things to maintain a healthy digestive system.
1) Smoking
Smoking is one of the worst things you can do for your gut. This damages your digestive system, causing acid reflux, increasing the risk of Crohn's disease, and even causing colon cancer. If you want a healthy gut, it should be your first step to quit smoking.
2) Alcohol
Alcohol is toxic to your gut. This intestine prevents the balance between bacteria, causing inflammation, dripped intestines, and other digestive problems. Drinking too much alcohol can cause bloating, diarrhea, and prolonged bowel damage. It is best to limit or save alcohol for better intestinal health.
3) Soft Drinks
Soft drinks are packed with sugar and artificial additives that damage the intestinal feed. They promote inflammation and can cause inflammation and gas. Instead of sugar soda, choose water, herbal teas, or natural fruit juice to keep the gut happy.
4) Refined Carbs
Refined carbs, such as white bread and pasta, lack fiber and nutrients. They can adversely affect intestinal bacteria and cause digestive problems. Instead, choose brown rice, quinoa, and whole grain products as whole grains to support a healthy intestinal microbiome.
Avoiding these four things smoking, alcohol, soft drinks, and refined carbohydrates can improve your intestinal health. By making small changes to your diet and lifestyle, your digestive system will have to work greatly and well. Share this information to spread consciousness and help others maintain a healthy gut!
