Amid pollution in urban environments, individuals frequently find themselves grappling with the recurring challenge of colds and coughs. Dr. Dimple Jangda, in her informative reel, sheds light on three crucial mistakes that contribute to the reoccurrence of coughs in such settings. Her emphasis on dietary choices, lifestyle adjustments, and seeking professional consultation underscores the importance of a holistic approach to maintaining a healthy body in the face of environmental challenges. By addressing these key aspects, individuals can take charge of their well-being and work towards preventing the frequent onset of coughs in polluted cities.
Three Common Mistakes to Avoid During Cough
Firstly, it is advisable to refrain from consuming or giving dairy products to children during a coughing episode. Dairy items such as milk, yoghurt, buttermilk, paneer, cheese, and curd can increase mucus production in the body, exacerbating cough symptoms. Opt for a plant-based diet for at least five to ten days to observe positive results. Choose light and easily digestible foods to allow your body to concentrate its energy on combating the cough effectively.
Secondly, it's crucial not to overlook gargling your throat, as it plays a significant role. Gargling with warm water, turmeric, and salt five to seven times a day, or ideally every hour, aids in eliminating bacteria in the throat region.
Utilize a diffuser at home and incorporate essential oils such as peppermint, rosemary, thyme, lavender, bergamot, frankincense, and eucalyptus. This assists in eliminating bacteria both in the air and within the bronchial region.
If you reside in a polluted city, consider consulting an Ayurvedic doctor at least once in your lifetime. Having been prescribed Vasarishtam, Vyoshadi Vatakam, and Karpadi Choornam, I've nearly completed this course, and it effectively alleviates cough within 24 hours. Once you have a prescription, as these are medicaments, you can then manage your child's health at home.
Note: Do not consume these medicines without proper doctor consultation.
Always bear in mind that you have control over your body and well-being. So, always take measures to maintain a healthy body.
