There are many different recommendations out there on how much water to drink in a day. Following a recommendation can possibly make you feel overwhelmed with the quantity of water and leave you still feeling thirsty. This is because each system is unique and as per Ayurveda's rules of water, one must drink when thirsty! Apart from thirst trigger, body has other ways of telling you if it is dehydrated. Public figure Manisha Yadav highlights five clear signs that you might not be drinking enough water.
Cramping
Waking up with cramps, especially in your calves, could be a sign that you need more water. Cramping usually happens because of an electrical imbalance or decreased blood flow to the muscles.
Dark Yellow Urine
The color of your urine is a good indicator of how hydrated you are. If your urine is dark yellow, it might mean you need to drink more water. Ideally, your urine should be light or clear water when you are well hydrated.
Cracked Lips
Lips can be one of the first signs that your body needs more water. If your lips are dry and cracked, it may be time to increase your water intake.
Dry Skin
Does your skin still feel itchy or uncomfortably tight after using the lotion? Dry skin that doesn't use moisturizer means you need to drink more water.
Infrequent Urination
Not going to the bathroom every 2-3 hours could be a sign that you're not drinking enough water. Regular urination is a good sign that you're staying hydrated.
Listening to these signs can help you maintain proper hydration and overall health. Remember, drinking water when you feel thirsty is often the best guide.
