When the bank tells you to come back later because it's lunchtime and you need quick banking help, you can still get things done. Finance expert Preet Ghanani offers tips on how to handle this situation.

No Fixed Lunch Time: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has made it clear that banks don't have specific lunch hours. They confirmed this in response to an RTI query on March 10, 2007. The RBI's Department of Banking Regulation (DBR) doesn't set fixed times for lunch breaks.

Service Must Be Continuous: As per RBI guidelines, banks are not allowed to close their doors or refuse service during lunch hours. The law states that banks must always have someone at the counter to assist customers during regular banking hours, regardless of whether it is lunchtime or not.

What to Expect: If you happen to be inside a bank when it's supposed to be their lunch break, you can complete your banking. The bank requires staff to be on hand to assist you with your needs.

Steps to Take: If bank workers tell you to come back later because they're on lunch break, remind them of these rules. Tell them the bank needs to provide service all the time during normal hours. If they still say no, you can take the issue to higher-ups at the bank or file a complaint if you need to.

In short, banks are supposed to assist clients even during lunchtime. You have the right to deal with the situation, and the bank must provide help in according to RBI guidelines.
