- The scam is scary and mainly targets VPN users
- Stop watching obscene videos right now
Each passing day, online scams are getting smarter and Devinder Maheshwari from Beebom has exposed a scary new fraud that primarily targets VPN users who visit certain websites late nights. If you frequently browse and consume adult content or obscene videos, then this article is just for you.
This new scam operates by first blocking your systems and then creating fake legal warnings to unblock the same. To make it look real, it also displays legal sections (IPC) to make it look legitimate. However, this well-crafted cyber scam is designed to steal all your savings. Read on to learn how this scam works and how to protect yourself from it.
People who watch adult content or obscene videos often use a VPN at night on random websites.
If you accidentally click on something and a page suddenly pops up in full screen on your browser with audio playing, displaying the message:
"Your browser has been blocked due to repeated visits to p****c sites."
You will see a warning claiming that your system has been blocked and that you need to pay a fine to the Indian government to unblock your PC. It may even display IPC sections to create panic, making it all look real.
Hold on, and do not make any payments!
When you see something like this, it's natural to lose your cool because you don't want the news to go public. This panic often leads people to enter their card details and make the payment.
As a result, you may lose all your savings. Not only that, you may feel too embarrassed to talk about what just happened.
What We Want You to Do?
- Stay cautious and do not click on any suspicious links.
- Think and read twice before making any payments, as banks are not responsible for such financial losses.
- Refrain from visiting such websites to avoid falling into these scams.
- Stay alert and protect yourself from online fraud!
This scary new scam is another reminder to stay vigilant while browsing online. DO NOT panic or make payments. Instead, close the page immediately, clear your browser cache, and report the scam.
