Nancy Tyagi: 'I always knew I will be successful'

Nancy Tyagi is a household name and it had to be after her much-talked-about Cannes red carpet debut this year. However, what makes her the quintessential adorable girl next door is what makes her story all the more endearing.

For starters, Nancy Tyagi's honest beginnings and hard work paid off when she was invited for Cannes where she designed and wore her own outfits. The pink ruffle gown is still fresh and etched in everyone's memory.

Nancy: I Knew It...

“From a young age, I kept designing outfits but I always knew I will be successful. First I think of a design and I try to create something different every time. People don't know but my brother helps me during designing,” reveals Nancy.

"Mummy Helps Me a Lot..."

She claims she did not know anyone from the industry when she started out but it was her gut feel that kept her going. “Meri mummy bahut help karti hain… hum itne negative mahoul main rehte the… uss cheez ko dekh kar yehi lagta tha padhai nai kar sakti,” she admits. This is when Nancy decided to turn her hobby and passion into career.

Going back in time to how it all started, Nancy shares a heart-warming experience. “Even when I was in school, my voice was never heard… because I was very soft spoken. My teachers used to say: what will you do in life but I followed my heart and pursued fashion,” she recalls.

Then came the turning point of her life – Cannes. Nancy didn't sleep for nights ever since she achieved overnight fame post her Cannes stint. Endorsements haven't stopped, phone hasn't stopped ringing and she has barely had any sleep. “I wanted to ensure I represent India and sari was definitely on my mind. Ruffle gown definitely became the talk of town and I was extremely grateful. Cannes changed my life completely. I knew this success was coming,” she chuckles.

Nancy's Future Plans:

Talking about her future plans, Nancy confesses to being a dreamer and wants to continue creating what her heart desires. In addition, she aims to take on valuable collaborations and work with brands that align with her design sense and personality.

When asked: What mantra she would give to her audience and fans?  “Apne mann main jo hai kar lo. Yeh mat socho baad main karenge. Jahan ho, wahin se shuruwat kar lo,” she wraps up on that note.
