Helly Shah on her Navratri Fashion: "I Don't Like To Go Overboard While Dressing Up..."

Helly Shah has recently opened up about her memories of Navratri and fashion mantra during these days. She mentioned that she doesn't like to go overboard while dressing up for Navratri.

Sharing her memories, she said, "I have very fond memories of celebrating Navratri in Ahmedabad. As a teenager, I would eagerly look forward to the garba nights at our school. At that age, you have a crush on your classmates, and we would be excited, thinking, ladke bhi honge and we would get to dance with them (laughs)! I have fond memories of playing garba till 5am in Ahmedabad. Uss time pe there were no strict deadlines, and we would visit Law Garden and gorge on street food after playing garba."

"I Love Wearing Lehenga Cholis..."

Speaking to E Times, she also spills the beans about her Navratri fashion and said, "While I love wearing authentic outfits, comfort is of utmost importance. I don't like to go overboard while dressing up for Navratri. However, I really admire those who work so hard for that perfect look on all nine nights; it requires a lot of dedication. I don't like to wear kurtas if I have to play garba; there's no fun in that. I love wearing lehenga cholis and chaniya cholis. I feel going minimal in terms of overall look is cool."

"I Grew Up Playing Garba..."

She added, "Luckily, in the last three-four years, I have managed to find time to play garba with friends. As someone who loves the festival, just being at a garba venue, even as a guest, makes me happy. Sanedo is among my all-time favourite garba numbers. Once that song is played, you can't resist dancing. Among singers, I love listening to Falguni Pathak and Kinjal Dave during Navratri. I grew up playing garba while listening to Falguni Pathak, and I have also attended Navratri events where Kinjal Dave performed. Both of them are so good!"

"I Love Everything About Navratri..."

"There's a different kind of positive energy in the air during these nine nights and I love everything about Navratri. You are not just dancing for yourself; you are also worshipping Mata Rani and that sense of devotion is so pure. It makes us explore our spiritual side and I love performing aarti before going for garba. I don't think it's fair to compare Gujarat and Mumbai's garbas. Both have their own charm, and I enjoy both," she concluded.
