In an exclusive interview with us, she candidly discusses challenges as a YouTuber, her journey as a content creator and her audience.

How do you engage and grow your audience on social media?

My profile on Snapchat is an extended version of me. From the things I have to do during the day to how my day pans out, my followers know everything. I believe it becomes a content creator's responsibility to keep their community and fans interested and invested (in time). I try to share content that reflects my personality and interests while being authentic and consistent with my stories and videos on Spotlight and YouTube. I also try to interact with my community whenever I get the chance. After joining Snapchat in 2021, people started to recognise me because of the content that I put out. Building a sense of community and retaining that connection is important for me. Global creators have inspired me to do monthly giveaways for my Snapchat subscribers as part of my engagement with them.

What do you consider to be your unique style or approach to creating Snapchat content?

My content style is a reflection of who I am. It's a mixed bag of fun, entertainment and fashion. I love experimenting with different lenses and stickers to create eye-catching, playful content that grabs people's attention. But beyond just the visuals, I also try to infuse my content with my unique perspective. Whether purchasing bags or sharing what happened to me in a day, I want my followers to feel like they're getting a real glimpse into my life. As I said, I share more than 40 stories daily on Snapchat. From my 'to-do list' to my coffee runs, unboxing packages, and getting ready, everything goes on my Snapchat.

My approach to creating content is about having fun and being true to myself. Snapchat is a place where I can be my raw and original self. I don't take things too seriously and am always excited to create new videos. Whether making people laugh, inspiring them with my creativity, or giving them a glimpse into my world, I hope my content always leaves my followers happy and entertained.

What are some of the biggest challenges you face as a fashion YouTuber, and how do you overcome them?

For an 18-year-old who's recently started her content creator journey, dealing with the negativity on digital media can sometimes be challenging. But I've learned that the best way to handle it is not to let it get to me! But when it comes to Snapchat, as an app, it is designed keeping in mind the safety of every Snapchatter. There are guidelines that creators and users have to follow. For instance, only the people on my friend list can see my story, making it very safe for me, and the app also has features that allow the user to block certain words (hate/trolls). It is best not to be heavily invested in negative comments or feedback and to look for the positive vibes that I get from my community.

What advice would you give someone who wants to improve their style but needs to know where to start?

The content creation journey can be a wild ride, but it's also one of the most rewarding experiences. What has worked in my favour is that I've always been true to myself. I've never tried to be anyone else or create content that does not align with who I am. Authenticity is key, and my community has appreciated it. Consistency and engagement with your audience are critical. In my early days, I learned that you need to have fun. This journey of being a content creator is something that you need to enjoy as much as you can to let your content be a reflection of who you truly are.

How do you balance staying true to your personal style while also catering to the interests of your audience?

When creating content, I always ask myself, "Would I want to see this on my own Snapchat?" If the answer is yes, I know I'm on the right track. But it's not just about what I want to see - it's about what my audience wants to see too! I listen to their feedback, engage with them regularly, and consider their ideas when creating new content. Authenticity is key to creating content that resonates with my audience. My content is relatable because I'm not trying to be someone else. I'm just me, which shines through to my 326K Snapchat subscriber base. Many viewers would agree that Snapchat allows you to visually and creatively be your most authentic self. There is no sense of pressure that one feels, allowing me to let my creative juices flow, which I can translate into creative content.

How did you get started creating content on Snapchat?

I've always had a passion for creating and sharing content with others, which began with my love for making short videos that I frequently shared with my friends on Snapchat. Over time, my interest in digital media grew, and I discovered its potential to bring people together from different parts of the world. I started using Snapchat in 2021 and quickly became hooked on its fun and interactive features. I loved how easy it was to share quick snaps of my day-to-day life with my friends and followers and how I could engage with them through different lenses and filters. Its 'Bitmoji' offering was a quirky feature that also attracted me.

As I continued to use Snapchat, I started experimenting with different types of content and developed my unique style, which now has its audience. In 2022, my Snapchat content got monetised, allowing me to achieve financial independence. Also, it's a platform through which I've earned the most. Recently, I purchased my dream car and took my first-ever international trip, all thanks to Snapchat's monetisation program. The avenues Snapchat opened up for me are immense compared to other digital platforms.

How did you get started creating content on Instagram?

I started creating content on Instagram and other digital platforms by exploring my interests and passions. I wanted to share my creativity and connect with like-minded individuals online, so I started posting videos on YouTube and eventually leveraged other digital platforms, including Instagram & Snapchat. I started posting pictures on the gram and used them to maintain my feed.

How do you think Snapchat will evolve, and how do you plan to adapt?

If I had to guess, Snapchat would become more interactive and immersive. They may introduce more augmented reality features that allow users to immerse themselves in the platform entirely. Recently, Snapchat also announced My AI, which is like your buddy or friend that you can have a conversation with, someone that suggests restaurants, places to vacation, gifts to buy, and things like that. I use Snapchat's My AI feature daily for food and cafe recommendations and must-visit places in the cities I travel to. This feature is very beneficial for me.

As for how I plan to adapt to the advancements and developments that the app makes, the key is always to be curious and open to trying new things. Whether that means experimenting with new filters and lenses or exploring new ways to engage with my followers, I'm excited to see where Snapchat goes and how I can continue to grow and evolve as a content creator on the platform. And let's be real: as an 18-year-old, I'll be on the cutting edge of whatever new trends and features Snapchat comes up with!

How do you engage with your audience, and what strategies do you use to foster a sense of community among your viewers?

If you open my Snapchat, you'll come to know that my content is not strategically placed. What I mean by this is that they are glimpses into my personal life, just an extended version of who I am. I do not use any strategy apart from being authentic and consistent. As I initially shared, I stayed engaged with my audience, offered them more information about my life, and shared as many experiences as possible with them.

What are some of your favourite current fashion trends, and why?

Fashion should be about expressing yourself and feeling confident in what you wear, so I'm always drawn to trends that prioritise comfort, sustainability, and inclusivity. When it comes to fashion trends, I love how corsets are back. I enjoy a well-fitted corset. My favourite era of fashion is the 2000's look. We got to express ourselves and play with colours without being judged.

Tell us something about your first international trip.

Thanks to Snapchat's monetisation program, I took my first-ever international trip. Australia, as a country, has always surprised me—with its wildlife, seas, etc. I felt that this is one place I have to visit, and what better than it being the first country to travel to internationally?

Travelling to a new country with my sister was exciting and nerve-wracking, but I was determined to make the most of this incredible opportunity and did precisely that. I captured every moment of my trip on Snapchat to ensure my subscribers felt like they were travelling with me. I am also going to be taking another trip to Dubai in December. I cannot thank Snapchat enough for monetising my content and helping me become financially independent.
