Exclusive! During Ganpati, We Have the Tradition of Helping Needy: Jainam Vora

In an exclusive conversation with whosthat360, Jainam Vohra shares his divine experience of Ganpati festivities. He speaks about how his belief in Ganpati has grown over the years.

What makes this Ganpati celebration particularly special for you? 

This year's Ganesh Chaturthi holds special significance as I'll be visiting the homes of all my close friends, indulging in sweets and a variety of dishes. Every year, I make it a point to visit Lalbaug Cha Raja for darshan, which adds to the festive joy.

Can you share a cherished childhood memory with this festival that still makes you smile? 

One of my fondest childhood memories of Ganesh Chaturthi is going to different Ganesh Pandals with my dad. On the day of visarjan, he would take my sister and me to a designated spot in our locality where we would watch the Ganpati idols being immersed. We'd enjoy snacks and cold drinks while marveling at the festivities. Even now, reminiscing about those moments brings a smile to my face.

How has your connection with Ganpati evolved over the years, and what significance does it hold in your life today? 

My faith in Ganpati has grown stronger over the years, starting from my school days. Seeking blessings from Vighnaharta before embarking on new ventures has become a ritual for me. I even undertake the pilgrimage from Malad to Dadar to seek darshan at Siddhivinayak temple. Ganeshji's presence is pivotal in guiding my path forward.

What is your favorite aspect of the Ganpati festival, and how do you like to celebrate it? 

My favorite aspect of the Ganesh Festival is celebrating it in an environmentally friendly manner. Opting for eco-friendly Ganpati idols, refraining from bursting crackers, and ensuring the visarjan doesn't pollute the beaches are ways I uphold the sanctity of the festival. It's about cherishing the Lord's presence without harming our surroundings.

Are there any family traditions or rituals that you follow during Ganpati, and what's the story behind them? 

During Ganesh Festival, we have a tradition of helping the needy. For years, we've visited our house-help's home where she invites Lord Ganesh annually. Seeing the joy in her eyes when we visit is truly heartwarming. She's been like family, nurturing me since childhood, and this tradition reinforces our bond and the spirit of giving during this auspicious time.
