Dolly Singh Opens Up About Body Shaming on Uorfi Javed's Podcast: I Was Called Hanger...

Uorfi and Dolly indulged in a conversation about how people react, rather than overreact on the internet. Uorfi recalled “Deepika Padukone ka jo hua tha, she just said she was casually dating other people. Log bandar jaisi shakal ke, Deepika ko bol rahe hai ki tujhko main date nahi karunga. How do you get this confidence?!” Expressing extreme disarray at the exaggerated response, she said, “Inko karwao imposter syndrome, koi dawaai ho toh main dedu inko”. As if Deepika would bother that some random Manoj from Delhi with his big poncho wouldn't date her! “I just felt it was very disrespectful. I didn't feel there was anything wrong.”

Uorfi and Dolly on Online Trolling:

Broaching the sensitive topics of trolling and body shaming, both shared personal experiences, Uorfi disclosed some hurtful comments she's received “Mujhe bhi hoti hai kabhi kabhi. Mujhe toh isiliye zyada hoti hai, ‘boobs nahi hai iske', 'flat screen hai', and other derogatory remarks particularly regarding her bust size and posterior.

Dolly added, "Haan mujhe bhi yahi bola jata tha, flat screen/ hanger. Itni toh body hi nahi hai jitni shaming hoti hai”

Despite the societal pressure, Uorfi feels, “I don't know, just, flat screen hai toh hai, big deal!”, and asked Dolly about considering cosmetic procedures, “Aisa kuch dimag mein aata hai ki kuch kara lu, like boob job or ass job?"

Dolly revealed, "Pehele ek time pe tha shayad jab main itni insecure thi, ya uss zone mein thi ki shayad mujhe logo ke liye kara lena chahiye, taki yeh khush hojaye.” But now she is in that zone where she doesn't feel the need. “Pehele toh mein bhi tissue paper gusa gusa ke jaati thi”, she has now embraced self-acceptance and feels comfortable in her skin.

Both share how they find the blockbuster actor incredibly sharp and muse over his charming personality, “I think he's very smart, like, you can just hear his interviews for the humour, he's very very intelligent. And everyone who meets him only praises him.” Dolly mentions, “Main actually unki fan slowly bani hun. I was never bachpan se- Oh my God! Shahrukh ki film aayi hai. In fact, ye 7-8 saal mein unki personality ki itni badi fan ban gayi hun, ki phir acting bhi acchi lane lag gayi hai.”

Sharing the sentiment, Uorfi added, “The same thought I feel. I've never had this Shahrukh Khan craze, phir jaise jaise interviews dekhe, I saw him the way he is, his personality is very charming. You know that there is magic in him.”
