Mahashivratri is not just a festival but a powerful spiritual event that allows devotees to align themselves with Lord Shiva's divine energy. Mahashivratri is falling on 26th February 2025 and  fasting on this day is believed to cleanse the body, mind, and soul, helping achieve inner peace stillness and grace.

Bhavesh Bhimanathani shares the perfect way to fast for Mahashivratri, which is deeply meaningful and gives you a transformative experience.

Mahashivratri Fast Schedule – A Three-Day Spiritual Journey

  • 25th February 2025 – Prepare for the Fast
  • Have an early dinner and set the fasting intention.
  • Avoid any solid food after this meal to prepare your body.

26th February – Mahashivratri Vrat & Worship

1. Begin Your Day with Abhishekam & Sankalp

  • Wake up early and perform Abhishekam (ritual bathing of Shivling).
  • Take a sankalp (sacred vow) to dedicate the day to fasting and spiritual connect that helps you become a perfect instrument of Shiva's energy.

2. Fasting Throughout the Day

  • Consume only fruits, nuts, or a liquid diet if hunger arises.
  • In the evening, have a light, alkaline vegetable soup, then avoid food after that.
  • It is advised to strictly avoid coffee and tea as these can disrupt the fast's purifying process.

27th February – Completing the Fast with Gratitude

  • Visit a Shiva temple or pray to the Shivling at home, offering gratitude and devotion.
  • Engage in acts of charity—donate food, water, or feed animals to honor the spirit of giving.
  • Breaking the Fast: Conclude your fast with a light Sattvic meal, such as fruits, milk, or simple khichdi.

Mahashivratri fasting is a sacred discipline in which devotees can experience inner peace, spiritual awakening and a deeper connection with Lord Shiva.
